7 Easy Maintenance Tips to Delay Your Tyre Service

The satisfactory mileage of your vehicle largely depends on the health of its tyres. Some of the major safety concerns revolve around the tyres. Hence it is imperative to take care of them and keep a check on their condition from time to time. Below are some of the maintenance tips which can help you to delay your tyre service a bit longer:
Tyre Service
#1. Inflation Pressure

For achieving the best tyre performance, proper inflation pressure is mandatory. From the perspective of fuel efficiency and safety, the inflation pressure in tyres plays a vital role as well. You are required to use an accurate pressure gauge to measure the correct inflation pressure. The tyres must be cool at that time and this checking needs to be done at least once a month.

For knowing the appropriate inflation pressure, you can refer to the placard or the vehicle user manual. While under-inflation causes irreparable damage, over-inflation gives an unpleasant driving experience. Also due to under-inflation, there will be cracks in your tyre leading to subsequent air loss. It also affects the load capacity, rolling assistance and other mechanical damages.

#2. Avoid Over-Spinning of Tyres

In case the tyres of your vehicles got stuck in mud, snow or sand, avoid spinning your tyres too much. Otherwise, overheating and irreparable damage will be caused to your tyres. You should rather free your vehicle with a gentle backward or forward rocking motion. Also, as a caution, avoid standing near the spinning tyres at high speed.

#3. Keep a Check on Your Tyres

Frequent check on your tyres will make you aware of its health. If you locate any sign of damage, immediately refer to a tyre service and get it rectified. Penetrations, bulges, cracks, air loss or knots are some of the problems which call for tyre repair or replacement.

#4. Initiate a Proper Tyre Repair

If the manufacturer does not warranty the repair of the tyres, then the owner should take an initiative to get them repaired properly within a considerable time. Any ignorance of tyre health or delay in repairs may lead incompetent performance and fatal accidents.

#5. Do not Attempt the Tyre Mounting by Yourself

Improper mounting of tyres may lead to bursting of tyres. Hence you should refer a professional expert to complete the task properly. The tyre manufacture provides you with some basic instructions and you should follow them diligently.

#6. A Monitoring System Alert for Tyre Pressure

#7. Other Precautions:

While replacing the tyres, due consideration should be given to the instruction manual and any specific recommendations provided for tyre replacement. If you find variation between the existing and the new tyres, always seek the help of a professional to ensure proper load carrying capacity, proper clearance as well as inflation pressure. It is recommended to not exceed the maximum load capacity as suggested by the sidewalls of the tyres.

  • In case non-radials and radials are required to fix in the vehicle simultaneously, go for the radials in the rear axle.
  • Tyres with different speed rating should not be considered for the same vehicle as it will limit the speed capacity of the tyres up to the lowest speed rating ones.
  • For all-season tyres and snow tyres, it is recommended to replace the complete set of four tyres.
  • Avoid mixing non-radials and radials on same axle.

With this technical know-how you will not only escape the excessive wear and tear of your tyres but also be able to maintain the good health of your vehicle as well.
