Lenses Used To Treat Myopia

Here are some of the different types of lenses that are used for Myopia treatment:
  • High Index Lenses: Usually these lenses are recommended for treating nearsightedness which is more than -3.00 diopters. These lenses are lighter and thinner than the plastic lenses available in the market which makes them more comfortable and attractive.
  • Anti-Reflective Coating: These lenses are also highly recommended for correcting myopia. These lenses come with AR coating which helps to eliminate the distractive reflections that occur on the lenses, which makes them appear thinner. The fact that reflections are eliminated, it helps to improve comfort and vision.
  • Ortho-K: These are other types of lenses which are commonly used when it comes to correcting nearsightedness. These lenses are specially designed and are also known as GP or Gar Permeable contact lenses. These lenses not only help to correct myopia but at the same time helps to prevent the progression of Myopia in children.
These are the 3 most common types of lens that are used for Myopia treatment. Apart from these, there are different other types of lenses that are available. It all depends on how critical the condition is. It is up to the doctor to decide as to which lens would be ideal for an individual. Research is being carried out to invent other kinds of improved lenses.
