Holden Cruze Starter Motor and its Components

Holden Cruze Starter Motor
Inside the engineer of a vehicle is integrated a starter motor. This activates the internal combustion engine of the vehicle for starting it. So using this starter motor, the car engine is powered. Holden Cruze starter motor is one such electric motor which uses direct current and is mounted on the gearbox of the cars.

Using Holden Cruze starter motor you can turn the flywheel of the engine. The minimum speed is 50 RPM which the starter motor uses causing the car's engine to make the first bursts of fuel and start running on its own. There are numerous types of starting motors for vehicles and they come in various sizes, brands, power. However, the principles of operation are the same for all.

Parts that Make Up the Starting Motors

Holden Cruze starter motor is made with several other mini spare parts and components and these are discussed below:

1) Solenoid – The solenoid comprises of two windings made of copper. They are attached to each other and mounted on the integer section of a metal cylinder. When these windings are energized, they work like a magnet.

2) Automatic - These are contacts that act as a switch to circulate the amount of electrical current which is needed to turn the Holden Cruze starter motor.

3) Solenoid Assembly - It is the union of the automatic, and the solenoid located at the top of the starter motor. The main purpose is moving the iron core actuator.

4) Iron Core - It is an iron cylinder that has a cavity at one end to make the fork fitting take place efficiently.

5) Fork (lever) - It is a rod that comes in a Y shape and is connected to the iron core of the driver. It transfers the forward movement of the core to the pinion assembly.

6) Pinbon Assembly (Bendix) - Th function of this component is to transfer the rotation of the Holden Cruze starter motor to the engine with the help of a gear system.

7) Switch set - It consists of bearing, back cover, brush holder, spiral springs and switch base. Its purpose is to electrically connect the armature to field the winding and to protect, center and isolate some parts.

8) Stator assembly - The store assembly has the purpose of creating a fixed magnetic field that will induce the motor. Generally, it is formed by the housing that has inside the polar shoes or a field coil in the case of the older models.

9) Rotor (induced) - It is a set formed by a reel full of grooves where it is rolled with conductive wires in the form of spirals. The spool is mounted on an axle which has at one end grooves that fit inside the pinion. At the other end a manifold is mounted, where the ends of the conductive wires are connected.

This is how the Holden Cruze starter motor is actually made of by combining all the above components.

The Holden Cruze starter motor is part that needs special attention. It must be reviewed occasionally as the initial starting of the car motor is based on it. So, look for authentic automotive spare parts and make the preventive maintenance for each and every piece and components.

In case there is no start-up noticed when the motor is initiated you must inspect it thoroughly. You might notice a popping sound instead. This can mean either the product is a duplicate or the battery is discharged. It is always a good idea to consult an experienced mechanic to get the starter motor checked and serviced once in a while.
